Building Better Broadband: Progress Continues on Sumter County Expansion

Pineland Communications continues to make steady progress expanding high-speed internet and phone service availability across Sumter County, reinforcing its commitment to delivering reliable, future-ready connectivity to rural communities.

As part of the expansion effort, Sumter County has been divided into nine service zones. Seven of the nine zones are now open and ready to serve customers. While a zone may be open, not every address within that zone is grant funded, meaning service eligibility can vary by location.

Customers are encouraged to check availability for their specific address by visiting www.pineland.net and selecting the “Apply Now” option, or by contacting Pineland’s offices at 800.247.1266. For serviceable locations, applications may be completed online or in person at Pineland’s Americus business office located at 1106 Fetner Drive, Americus.

Work continues on the remaining two zones, South Lee and Americus. The South Lee zone is projected to open in Spring 2026, with the Americus zone estimated to open in Summer 2026. These projected timelines reflect Pineland’s commitment to responsible planning, quality construction, and long-term network reliability.

When a zone opens, customers who have registered their interest in Pineland services are notified by email, and postcards are mailed to deliverable addresses. Registering interest does not obligate customers to connect, but ensures Pineland can provide timely updates as service becomes available.

Pineland appreciates the continued patience and support of the Sumter County community as this project moves forward.
